My Story
I'm Louise and it's lovely to meet you. Having worked in the digital design realm for over 15 years training in calligraphy was a natural progression for me. I love the ability to connect with the humble materials of beautiful paper, pen and ink to create something completely unique and original. When combined with my design experience I produce heirloom stationery to treasure and cherish.
When not in my studio, you will find me at the seaside, foraging for plants for natural dyes for silk ribbons or spending time with my lovely daughters and family. I also love to search for beautiful antiques and unique pieces for styling.
Louise has been featured in highly recognised print and online publications such as BRIDES magazine, BLoved Blog, Aisle Society, Wedding Venues & Fashion Magazine and more. She has collaborated with a number of wonderful people and has many exciting projects in the pipeline.
What is Fine Art Calligraphy?
Fine Art Calligraphy to me represents an artistic freedom, freedom to be creative, to be released from all the rules and to allow the words and shapes to flow.
I use beautiful handmade paper from a number of suppliers, the softness of this paper is like nothing else, not only does it look unique and beautiful, the tactile nature just makes you feel happy! When you write with a calligraphy pointed pen and nib on this paper it catches and creates its own sense of being, which I love. I use many different inks, pens and nibs to create a completely unique design.
When this is combined with hand dyed silk ribbons, handmade envelopes, printed vellum or tissue paper not only does it look beautiful it also awakens the senses of the recipient. When you choose Fine Art Calligraphy for your branding, wedding or event you are making the choice to celebrate creative freedom and design.
